The Texas Folklife Festival is the biggest cultural celebration in Texas. It is a 3-day long celebration of cuisine, music, dance, arts, and crafts from all of the cultures that are a part of this great state. Go for the food, drinks and entertainment. Stay for the community!
At the festival, visitors can purchase a variety of cuisine. It will be easy to find the usual suspects such as American food, Tex-Mex dishes, and Mexican food. Some highlights will be the Scottish Society of San Antonio with their Shepard’s Pie and Fish & Chips. Vietnamese Miber Grill will have Lomen box, egg rolls, and fried rice. You’ll find soul food like fried chicken, fried fish, mac & cheese, and collard greens. Don’t miss the Aloha Kitchen with dishes like Spam Musubi, Huli Huli Chicken, and Loco Moco. The Margarita Connection will have a variety of margaritas, micheladas, and beer.
There are six stages with a schedule packed of entertainment. Visitors can enjoy live music artists and dance performances from all over the world. Musical guests include Conjunto Puro Corazon, Vicki Fowler and Friends, GoKart Mozart, Guillermo Serpas Flamenco Guitarist, and so many more. A few of the dance performers will include Bulgarian Folk Dance Group Bulgarka, Samba Vida, Filipino Americans in San Antonio Dance Troupe, Fire on the Mountain Cloggers, Ballet Folklorico Festival, and Lebanese Folkdancers of St. George.
Beyond music and dance, there will be fun activities for visitors to enjoy. Visitors will definitely want to see is the Texas Folklife Festival Parade. You can catch on opening night at 6:00 pm, Saturday at 11:00 am and 6:30 pm, and Sunday at 6:00 pm. Have some fun and enter the Lulling Watermelon Thump Seed Spitting on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The Texas Martial Arts Council will perform fun demonstrations on Friday at 8:30 pm, Saturday at 4:00 pm and 8:30 pm, Sunday at 2:30 pm.
The 2018 47th Annual Texas Folklife Festival is hosted in downtown San Antonio on the grounds of the Institute of Texan Cultures on the UTSA Hemisfair Campus.

Friday, June 8th – 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Saturday, June 9th – 11:00 am to 11:00 pm
Sunday, June 10th – 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Tickets online are $12 for adults (13 and older); $5 for children 6 – 12, and free entry for children 5 and under. At the gate, $15 for adults. Purchase your tickets online at texasfolklifefestival.org
For Saturday only, VIA will provide Special Event service to the festival from Crossroads Park and Ride. Service will start half an hour before the gate opens and will continue until half an hour after the event.
